On the front page of the Thos.Baker website is an explanation of their sustainable harvest procedures, which are overseen by an Indonesian government agency tasked with preserving this natural resource. Teak is resistant to rot, warping, shrinkage and swelling, and the natural teak oil preserves the wood so it can be left outdoors indefinitely. In fact, many parks in England are furnished with teak benches nearly a century old.
